Manual handling


To increase awareness of safe Manual Handling of loads and to reduce the risk of occupational injury while carrying out Manual Handling tasks in the workplace.


When theoretical material is introduced, it will be related to relevant Manual Handling tasks encountered by employees in the course of their work. The focus will be on actual situations with realistic solutions.


• The law relating to Manual Handling, associated roles and responsibilities and relevant health and safety information
• Spinal anatomy, relevant structure and function
• Body mechanics, normal movement,
• Causes of back pain and other handling related injuries
• Risk assessment
• Safer lifting techniques and team handling
