Breaking News on Statutory Sick Pay
Rishi Sunak, The Chancellor of the Exchequer, recently announced that the government will reimburse employers with 250 employees or fewer any statutory sick pay they pay to employees, for up to the first 14 days of sickness.
It's likely this is a holding measure to help small businesses minimise the impact of coronavirus. Statutory sick pay is currently paid at £94.25 per week. It’s estimated this will help approximately two million businesses at a cost of up to £2 billion.
